In the fall of 2007, Poplar Grove church entered into a new relationship with Christ the Carpenter UMC in downtown Rockford. Over the course of the fall, members from both churches came together on Saturdays to refurbish the building at Christ the Carpenter. Work done includes: lots of painting, making the bathrooms handicapped accessible, outside clean up and yard work, and creating a new dividing wall between the sanctuary and fellowship hall. Members from both congregations have been blessed from this endeavor and we hope to continue work after the first of the 2008 year and we hope to hold some worship services and fellowship dinners together.
Time was spent pruning and cleaning shrubs around the church.
Folding partitions were removed and a wall built between the sanctuary and Fellowship Hall.

The chapel was painted.
There was lots of general repair and painting. (Also a men's washroom was remodeled and made handicapped accessible. )
It has been a wonderful experience for everyone involved and we look forward to continuing this joint ministry.
