Vacation Bible School

Sonquest Rainforest

Over 135 kids and 75 volunteers participated in Sonquest Rainforest Vacation Bible School the week of June 21 – 25.

Our themes for each day were:

Music was a major part of the weeks program with children practicing each day in small groups then all together at the end of the morning.

We spent time in drama seeing the parables Jesus told come to life. 
             

In the craft center we created projects to help us remember Jesus’ lessons.
                     

We had games outside, when it wasn’t raining, and were challenged with different activities which reinforced the lesson.
             

One of the favorite times of the morning was snack time.  It was a great time to recharge with great treats.
             

The Hands-On center explored scientific concepts that we related to the lesson.
   

We always want to look towards helping others and this year we collected over $370 --  $200 was sent to help The Asturias Academy in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala.  It is an educational institution that is working to teach, train, and empower the youth in this VERY poor area,  $170 was put in the Poplar Grove UMC Community Help Fund to help those in the community that are having financial difficulties.
